Home/Testimonials/A22 Valor FoxBat Print This Page

" I recently installed a set of your VGS on my A22 Valor (Foxbat), N708FP (80 hp). This airplane is an awesome performer in stock form , I could solo fly it at 29 mph with full flaps. I installed the full set (wing and tail), plus a few VGS in front of the trim tab, since it wasn’t strong enough to trim at full flap.

The most noticable improvement was in rough air, the aircraft feels much more docile, like a heavier aircraft. I don’t like getting tossed around, and this was a 100% improvement. I wasn’t expecting that and still don’t fully understand it. The Valor has a very fat wing, maybe the gusts were causing momentary stalls? It felt really solid, even at slower speeds. It hangs on longer during landing, so the actual touchdown is slower. As a result, landing roll is much shorter, about 25% or more.

Overall, great bang for the buck. The install took about 2.5 hours once I got started. Don’t put it off, just do it." R

Results:

  • Trim tab now neutralizes controls with 1 notch of flap, a slight improvement.

  • I can slow-fly it down the runway at 25 mph, a 4 mph improvement.
(Note: At 20 mph it's on the peg. The high angle may be affecting accuracy.)

  • Speed @ 4800 RPM: 86 mph (no change)

  • @ 5000 RPM: 90 mph (a gain of 2 mph)

  • @ 5200 RPM: 100 mph (a gain of 4 mph)

  • @ WOT (5700 RPM): 104 mph (a loss of 2 mph, I'm going to retest this)

Takeoff (calm air): 100 ft (a gain of 50 ft)

Rate of climb: 900 ft/min before (no change noted so far)

Note: The flaperons are set at 1.5° negative to gain speed, which reduces the flap angle. This is just preliminary, as conditions varied ,breezy one time (11 gusting to 15), calm the next.
